| | Metung Village is about 1.5 km from Riviera Nautic - a lovely walk along the boardwalk of Bancroft Bay. Services in the village include:
cafs, restaurants and waterfront hotel
baker
general store that also sells fresh meat, vegetables and liquor
post office and public telephones
specialty shops
public jetty mooring
electric barbecue
public toilets
Between Riviera Nautic and the village centre is the Metung Yacht Club. They serve terrific meals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Close by is the Kings Cove Golf Club, which also has a good restaurant.
The Metung Village Store sells cryovac meat which is ideal for boating holidays as it keeps so well. Complement it with a bottle of local wine - they have an extensive range.
There's a large public jetty which means you can moor your boat when you want to collect supplies or enjoy a meal ashore. (The jetty was originally built for unloading fish catches, which were then collected by steamer to be shipped to Melbourne.)
Behind the shops is an area known locally as the 'back beach' - a safe swimming beach for children, with toilets and showers, a BBQ and picnic tables. There's a jetty there, too, but the water is shallow. | | |
